Make-up Tips

On your wedding day you will be the centre of attention for the entire day. Everyone will be focused on you, so naturally you want to look your best. From putting on the wedding veil, kissing your husband and your first wedding dance, your wedding makeup will not be disturbed. As your make-up plays an important role in complimenting your features, gown and accessories, it is important to look your best for the entire day.

You are likely to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on your wedding dress. So why ruin your look by having inappropriate or badly applied makeup.

Here are a few tips that will ensure you look picture perfect when walking down the aisle to say 'I do'.

Six months
Your skin is the basis for your wedding day makeup as this is where it all begins. Any makeup is going to look better on clear and healthy skin. That is why it is essential to begin preparing your skin long before your wedding day.

Start a skincare regimen that works for you. Cleanse, tone and use a moisturizer. Wear sunscreen every day. Find a moisturizer with a built-in SPF.

Eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Drink plenty of water and devise an exercise routine that will suit your lifestyle and help to make the very most out of your spare time.

If you do go into the sun be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen.

Three to six months
Visit a beauty therapist and arrange a series of pampering facials.

Your hair needs to be in peak condition too. Regular trims, conditioning treatments, colours all need to be carefully planned for maximum results. Consult with your hairstylist to construct a plan of attack.

One month
Make sure you drink plenty of water - this will flush out and hydrate your skin, helping it to stay free of blemishes. Another common cause of pimples is stress - avoid as much stress as possible (not always easy when planning a wedding!!!).

If you are really stressed out consider having a relaxing massage once a week for a month and also a day before the wedding.

Keep your feet well exfoliated and moisturized. Remember your toe nails! Keep it simple - filed evenly and painted, so they look beautiful in open toe shoes.

Starting weekly manicures that will give you the healthiest nails possible.

Schedule final waxing appointments a week or two before your big day. If you've never had your eyebrows shaped, start two months in advance to perfect the look.

One week
Make it a priority to eat properly, sleep properly, relax and drink those eight daily glasses of water.

Don't get too much sun before your wedding. If tanning is absolutely necessary fake it.

Book in for those final beauty treatments. Groom your eyebrows. Eyebrows are one of the most important features on your face. Also eyelash/brow tinting, manicure/pedicures and body hair removal. This way you will be at your best not only on your wedding day, but throughout the duration of the honeymoon as well.

24 Hours
Get an early night and have a good night's sleep.
